Burton coal mine is located in the Bowen Basin about 150 km south-west of Mackay. It is owned primarily by Peabody and operated under contract by Thiess.
Vista Hire has supplied vehicles to contractors working at this site and can prepare vehicles to comply with the requirements at Burton coal mine.

Visibility standards
- Flashing amber hazard light
- Rear high mount lights (tail lights, reversing light, turning lights) ADR compliant
- Reflective tape stripes on the side of vehicles (3M DG3 diamond grade)
- White coloured vehicle
- High visibility flag between 3.4 to 4.2 metres high
- Positive ID signage on both sides of the vehicle in A4 size with yellow writing on black.

- Fire extinguisher, fitted and charged and in-service
- First aid kit compliant to AS2675-1983
- Battery clamps
- ROPS - roll-over protection structure for front and rear passengers
- Padding on internal ROPS
- Cargo barriers
- Load restraints
- Mudflaps
- 40CH or 80CH UHF CB radio. We can supply ICOM radios capable of being programmed between 450-500 MHz.
Reversing alarms
- Reversing alarms must be distinct and clearly audible above background noise
- Reversing alarms can be switched to operate with the revolving flashing light.
Mechanical requirements
- Brake test - vehicles to have a dynamic brake test in accordance with Burton specification
- Suspension inspection
- General mechanical condition inspection.
